Phodong Monastery: The meaning of Phodong is “the Royal Chapel”. At a distance of 38 Km. on the way to Lachung, Phodong is a small township. The phodong monastery which belongs to the Kargyupa sect of Tibetan Buddhism is located at 1 Km. a steep climbing road from Gangtok Lachung highway. The monastery founded in the first quarter of 18th century, and one of the six major monasteries in Sikkim.
Khecheopalri Lake
Khecheopalri Lake is considered to be one of the sacred lakes of Sikkim both by the Buddhist and the Hindus. The lake remains hidden in the rich forest cover. It is believed that birds do not permit even a single leaf to float on the lake surface. There is a motorable road from Pelling right up to the lake.

Yuksom
This was the first capital of Sikkim, where according to the historical records; the first Chogyal of the Kingdom of Sikkim was consecrated in 1641 AD by the three learned lamas(Buddhist Preast). The evidence of the consecration ceremony can be seen at Norbugang Chorten in the form of stone seats and a foot-print of the Head-Lama on a stone. Tashiding
At 17th-century main monastery was built by Pedi Wangmo, during the reign of Chakdor Namgyal and some of the statues built then still exist. The sacred objects of worship in Tashiding are the chorten Thongwa Rangdol and Bumchu (holy water). The chorten was built by the Lhatsun Chenpo and it is believed that merely to view the chorten is enough to cleanse one of all sins. Carved skillfully on flagstones surrounding the monastery are holy Buddhist mantras like ‘Om Mane Padme Hum’ by the master craftsman Yanchong Lodil. A rich environment with orange orchard and cardamom plants a perfect Sikkimese village in the setting.
